Do You Use Bad Marketing Language?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Do you use marketing language when someone asks you what you do? Do you sound like a brochure instead of a real, live human being? I'm sure you recognize marketing language in other people. Have you ever heard someone say something like "we help our clients find the solutions to their needs" or "we help our clients protect their wealth" or "we provide technology solutions for progressive companies" or some other junk like that? That's marketing language.

The difference between marketing language and real language is that people don't think in marketing-speak. That is, their actual thought processes don't include the words found in marketing language.

So how do you know if what you are saying is marketing junk? It's as simple as asking yourself the following question; "Is what I just said the way people think?" Have you ever formulated your thoughts using those exact words?

Let's use an example to make it clearer. How many times have you stayed awake at night worrying about money? Did you think to yourself, "Gee, I wonder how I can protect my wealth?" Or did you think something more like, "I've worked hard to earn this money. How can I grow it without taking too much risk in the market and without getting killed on taxes?" The first example is marketing language, the second is real English. Do you see the difference?

If you're still stumped, try a great, free service called Bull Fighter. You can access it at [http://www.dc.com/bullfighter] . It will help you get rid of all the b.s., jargon and marketing lingo in your speech and writing. Now, go speak plain English and make more money !!

Kel-Tec PF-9: "Daily Carry Handgun" Pt 2 by Nutnfancy

PART 2 of 2 The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a great alternative to the Kahr PM series of polymer framed pistols. It costs less than half the price and yet offers excellent accuracy, reliability, firepower, lightweight, and outstanding carry comfort. And it some ways, as discussed in the video, it even beats the Kahr PM series (PF-9: thinner, longer sight radius, 1 extra round, longer grip but still ultra concealable). Against the Kahr CW series, it compares in value but weighs a substantial 3 ounces less. As shown in my companion shooting video, the PF-9 is a good shooter too once you learn the trigger and get accustomed to the somewhat snappy recoil. It can readily serve as a concealed carry option, officers backup gun, or as a possible all-around home defense pistol as well (a lighter weight, more concealable gun like the PF-9 could prove to be more versatile and more used by the homeowner in the long run). Initial production versions of the Kel-Tec PF-9 were fraught with reliability and quality problems and some may mistakenly think these issues persist. They dont. Those have all been fixed and current iterations are providing stellar service with their users (reference ktog.org for specific serial number issues if purchasing a used PF-9). For most users, the PF-9 will last your lifetime as well. Overall, it is a high value gun that is backed up with typically great Kel-Tec customer service. /////////////Nutnfancy Initial Likeability Scale: 9 of 10

SPECIAL1 TV (EP02-HQ) Jose's take on the transfer window

(Original transmission Date 7th February 09) Special 1 tv's predecessor called "I'm on setanta sports" (IOSS) first appeared at the beginning of December 2007 & has been a cult football comedy hit ever since. At first the show was a solo effort with The special one in the studio alone & taking calls from various other football faces & Managers (with the exception of a certain Dave from Newcastle). In due coarse Two more regulars were drafted in by Jose in the shape of Sven ("IT") & the boy Wayne (Rooney) This move bought a massive comical boost to the show & helped increase it's popularity. In autumn 08 a certain Mr Fabio Capello (cabbage man) came into the show as THE BOSS much to Jose's disgust. But he has seldom been seen since a certain election defeat to Jose. (Do not cross the special one). In early January 2009 setanta stunned the shows millions & millions of Fantastic fans by announcing that IOSS was to end the following weekend.....for no apparent reason. DAVE LENNON (Director of this channel) went Ballistic & started an online campaign to save this special show. After 10 days of this campaign it was announced through a special episode (EP00 on this channel) that the show was to return with a new name "Special 1 TV". The fans rejoiced & I slept properly for the first time in ten days. The whole thing had been a cheap marketing ploy (as stated by Sven in EP01) to accommodate a new sponsor (pools4all.com). However - this author got his reward when his campaign ...

Introduction to the Marketing Mix

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The marketing mix is concerned with the realities and practicalities of how the marketing objectives may be turned into specific marketing plans and activities. The role of the marketing mix is to move objectives and plans into reality of implementation and achievement.

WHAT THE MARKETING MUST HAVE:

STRATEGIC ELEMENT: For instance, the company must decided what kinds of products its wishes to produce, given the choices its has made about the target markets its wants to satisfy. Such decision will inevitably, preclude other markets and products, given the limitation on resources available to it.

PLANNING ELEMENT: For instance, what time - scale should be applied to new product development activities.

TACTICAL ELEMENT: For instance, to what extent should the company allow discounts to volume buyers and how widely should its pricing policy be publicized within the trade.

OPERATIONAL AND IMPLEMENTATION ELEMENT: For instance, should marketing management expect to be involved in the formulation of detailed advertising copy being undertaken by the company's advertising agency.

RESOURCES COMMITMENT: For instance, upon what basis should advertising and sales promotion budgets be constructed or over what time scale should new products be expected to pay - back the research and development costs incurred in their development.

The Importance and complexity of the marketing mix, therefore, explains why it is such a major subject in the theory and practice of marketing. This complex of elements and activities should be managed such that it ensures that the right product is available at the right price in the right place at the appropriate time to satisfy the needs of target customers in the chosen market segments. It may also involve some degree of persuasion that the customer should consider purchasing the products or should actual make the purchase. The need for appropriate promotion of the products is, therefore, also an important part of the marketing mix. The marketing mix may effectively be described and analyzed on the basis of the four p's. These are: Product, Price, Place and Promotion.

Funnel Your Way to Marketing Success

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A funnel is a good way to think of the marketing process. The top is very broad and consists of using mass marketing techniques. Mass marketing includes items like mass mailings, national advertising, billboards, and airing commercials during the Super Bowl. The marketing message is sent to a broad audience with little or no discretion. Mass marketing is very expensive, difficult to evaluate, and has a low return on investment. Mass marketing is a stab in the dark, like trying to find needles in a haystack. The next section of the funnel narrows the target audience into market segments. The communications still appeal to a large audience, but they are at least targeted to a specific market segment by means of the chosen media.

Cat Fancy magazine, ESPN, and the Oxygen website each target a specific segment of the market: cat lovers, sports enthusiasts, and women, respectively. Next, we narrow the target audience further into niche or specialty markets. Harley Davidson, Barbie, and Macintosh computers each appeal to a specialty area of the market. The bottom of the funnel is the customized or one-to-one area of the funnel. The consumer being on a first-name basis with the product or service provider often characterizes these markets. Mike the mechanic, Bill the barber, Doc Baker are all one-to-one relationships in which the customer and service provider know each other personally. Through the use of technology and mass customization, these relationships can be available on a wide scale such as in the case of the "My Yahoo!" page.

ROI

ROI stands for return on investment. Every one of the techniques in the funnel will gain customers. The question is which technique will provide the greatest return on investment. A Super Bowl ad is sure to create interest and generate new customers, but at what price? The same amount of money spent at the bottom and targeted directly at ideal customers will produce a much greater return on investment. Two benefits of targeting the bottom of the funnel are the likelihood of a positive response and the kinds of relationships that are established. Relationships on the bottom of the funnel are more committed and not easily broken. One-to-one customers form the bedrock, the foundation, for any successful product line. These people are not likely to change to a competitor due to the mutual commitment they feel between themselves and the brand.

Customers at the bottom of the funnel can and should become your best marketing tool. They are positive multipliers that spread the word to friends and family. There are three levels of the one-to-one section: the customer, the referent, and the advocate. The customer will continue to buy the product and not switch to the competition. The referent will continue to buy the product and will tell others about the product when asked (give referrals). The advocate will continue to purchase the product, will actively promote the product, and will convince others to buy it. The goal of every marketer is to gain advocates for the product.

To summarize, the top of the funnel is the most expensive with the least return on investment and the least amount of consumer loyalty, while the bottom of the funnel is the least expensive with the greatest return on investment and the greatest amount of consumer loyalty. Getting consumers to the bottom is the goal. Marketers should always be guiding their consumers to the bottom of the funnel where the costs are less and the relationships are stronger.

Take it from the Top

Why would anyone market to a mass audience at the top of the funnel? There are three reasons marketers come in from the top of the funnel: lack of education, sloth, and lack of opportunity. The majority of people marketing products do not know anything about the marketing funnel. If you know anyone that needs to be a more effective marketer, I urge you to advocate this book to him or her. Millions of dollars are spent because that is just the way things have been done in the past, or that is what companies see from their competitors. If you want to lead the market, then innovate instead of imitating.

On the other hand, some people are too lazy to work on building these types of relationships with customers. Often it is easier to pay for a television commercial or a billboard than to figure out how to establish one-to-one relationships with thousands of target customers.

The final reason is lack of opportunity. Sometimes when marketing a new product, it is necessary to enter the market from higher up in the funnel. If this is the case, steer your customer relationships down the funnel as quickly as possible. For example, if you must enter the market by means of a national newspaper advertisement, link the ad to a customizable website or some other tool that allows the relationship to develop further and reduces the need for future mass marketing efforts.

Is sites like soundclick and myspace good for producers?

Websites like myspace allow you to upload your music, pictures, videos and other things for free. I see a lot of fellow producers using these site as the main website for they're beats. Yes these sites allow you to do many things for free however these websites will never beat having your own site and I am going to tell you why. First off you have to think what these websites were designed for? They were not design for you to be successful. They were design to give people a play ground to play in so they can advertise to you. That's it! They know they have to give you toys to play with in order to keep you coming back everyday so they can advertise to you. Is that a bad thing? No cause they have to get paid too. They can't run a major site like that giving away everything for free. So they charge for advertising. Now these site such as social networks are good because you do meet people that otherwise would never had met. Now that's what social networks and website like soundclick is good for. The first contact. Don't try to cram pictures, videos, and music all on one page. Put a few things on there just enough to make them go to your real site. Get your own site! That might be scary for some people who don't know coding but, there is templates at many website hosting sites so you don't have to code. You might be thinking it must be expensive. What! I just went to soundclick.com and and saw you can upgrade to there VIP membership and is $9.95. I can show you how to get ...

IT Marketing: Know the Decision Maker

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Know exactly whom the decision maker is that you're trying to target before you start your IT marketing and prospecting. In this article, you'll learn why it's extremely important that you define as tightly as you can who the decision maker is, and how to do that.

If there's a particular industry you're trying to reach with your IT marketing, getting to know the decision maker will be a lot easier. Once you know your niche it's going to be a lot easier to find the trade groups, to find the lists you need to run to, to find the conferences you need to go to, to figure out what hot buttons you want to hit, and who the decision maker is.

How do you find the correct decision maker or contact person within the company that you're targeting for your IT marketing? How would this differ in a 10-person v. 50-person, v. a 100-person office?

So the basic question here is with your sales and marketing efforts, what's the role, what's the job title, what kind of person are you looking to reach?

IT Marketing: The Two Most Likely Contact People

In most small businesses, you're going to find two types of main contact people. You'll find the person you want to reach, signs the checks or the purchase orders, or the contracts or the purchase authorizations. I sometimes call that the P&L person because they're responsible for the profit and loss statement of the company. This may actually be the owner or a partner, especially in smaller businesses.

Person number two is the internal guru. That's the one everyone tends to yell for when there's computer problems, but taking care of computer problems isn't their full-time job. They generally have another job within the company. Sometimes it's an office manager. Sometimes they're the executive or administrative assistant, but they're the one that everyone yells for when something goes wrong with IT.

When in doubt, simply ask who's wearing each hat. Who's the person that makes the financial decisions on major IT purchases? Who's the person that when the laser printer jams up or the Internet connection goes down? Who's the one on the phone with the technology vendor? The answers to these are a good starting point to find the person you need to for IT marketing

The 7Ps of Marketing Mix

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Marketing professionals and specialist use many tactics to attract and retain their customers. These activities comprise of different concepts, the most important one being the marketing mix. There are two concepts for marketing mix: 4P and 7P. It is essential to balance the 4Ps or the 7Ps of the marketing mix. The concept of 4Ps has been long used for the product industry while the latter has emerged as a successful proposition for the services industry.

The 7Ps of the marketing mix can be discussed as:

Product - It must provide value to a customer but does not have to be tangible at the same time. Basically, it involves introducing new products or improvising the existing products.

Price - Pricing must be competitive and must entail profit. The pricing strategy can comprise discounts, offers and the like.

Place - It refers to the place where the customers can buy the product and how the product reaches out to that place. This is done through different channels, like Internet, wholesalers and retailers.

Promotion - It includes the various ways of communicating to the customers of what the company has to offer. It is about communicating about the benefits of using a particular product or service rather than just talking about its features.

People - People refer to the customers, employees, management and everybody else involved in it. It is essential for everyone to realize that the reputation of the brand that you are involved with is in the people's hands.

Process - It refers to the methods and process of providing a service and is hence essential to have a thorough knowledge on whether the services are helpful to the customers, if they are provided in time, if the customers are informed in hand about the services and many such things.

Physical (evidence) - It refers to the experience of using a product or service. When a service goes out to the customer, it is essential that you help him see what he is buying or not. For example- brochures, pamphlets etc serve this purpose.

Wedding Planner Marketing Tips

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The wedding planner life is the only one I'd like to lead. I love to see couples find the ways to have their perfect day, and I absolutely love being able to help them do it on their own budget. Solving problems, working with people, and just being around weddings is a great career, so I love what I do. The only problem wedding planners have is marketing. There aren't too many wedding planner marketing tips that are just floating around there. But there are a lot of wedding planners, and it can be hard to make myself stand out in the crowd. If I was going to give advice about wedding planner marketing tips, there are a couple of things that I would be sure to say.

First of all, as a wedding planner, one of the biggest wedding planner marketing tips that I can come up with is making sure that you've got a solid business plan and you are professional. You've got to know what you are doing right off the bat so that you'll be able to do it well. You also have to always present yourself in a professional way. Remember that part of wedding planner marketing is making sure that you can work with all kinds of people, from couples getting married to in laws, to florists and DJs. You are going to have to plan this whole thing out, so be sure that your people skills are up to date. One of the biggest wedding planner marketing tips you can have is to always, always be friendly and polite. You have no idea how far a good word can go. If one couple likes you, they'll recommend you to a friend. Business is easy, that way.

But you've got to get your name out there. I learned that the hard way, having no work for quite some time. Finally I realized that a web site is a great idea, because couples who are getting married like to see what I've done before. I put up photographs from weddings I've planned, and testimonials from couples who like me. I've also put up lists of what I do and what I charge for those services. With this information online, it is super easy for couples to decide that they'd like me. The hardest part is making sure that they know my address. I got an easy to remember website address, and started plastering it all over town. I took out ads in magazines that catered to brides and grooms, and made sure that I stuck it at all sorts of places. I even got some florists and DJs to say that they'd keep some of my cars and recommend me. In turn, I usually use them when I need those services for a wedding. That kind of networking can be the best of the wedding planner marketing tips because not only does it help you get business, it also helps you during your own business. No matter what, I always remember that if I want to be a successful wedding planner, I've just got to get out there and do it.

Effective Marketing Skills

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Being able to network effectively for marketing purposes is a skill. You might even say it is an art. There are plenty o f prospects all around you but you likely aren't seeing them.

Every single day you pass by prospects unawares. It's because you haven't trained yourself to see them yet. It takes some effort and discipline, but you can get better at finding new prospects to grow your business.

Here's one basic question that I want you to think about. How often do you talk to people when you're out and about? You should be talking to people regularly. Follow the 5 foot rule. Anyone within 5 feet of you, whether in a store or elevator or wherever, speak to them politely and briefly.

After you have broken the ice, gauge whether they seem receptive to ongoing conversation. Ask a question like "what do you do for a living?" Depending on how they respond, see if you can't continue the conversation. They may hint, or even outright state, that they are ready for a new opportunity to come along.

If they note that they are receptive to new opportunities, try a line like "I have something I think you might want to look at. Would you be interested?" Your next move is to give them some sort of tool such as a website or a reference. If you can, get their card so you can call them with more information.

If you do this regularly you will find that you come across literally dozens of opportunities every day. Can you imagine how that might build your business? Even if you only talk to 5 new people each day it would be a big difference.

If you spoke to even five new people each day, how do you think that would affect your network marketing business? You'd have a lot more prospects in line that is for sure! Your business would take off exponentially. They might even refer their friends to you as well.

Start using that 5 foot rule the next time you are out. You can't be shy if you want to grow your business. Your network marketing prospects will multiply so quickly you'll hardly believe it. Along with this, your income will almost certainly skyrocket.

The Successful Marketing Plan

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The successful marketing plan is often seen as an elusive, unobtainable ideal that you read about in large marketing text books.

This widely held perception is most likely the result of people or businesses trying to market something (or someone), but being hampered by a lack of resources. And I use the term resources in the widest possible sense of the word.

The bottom line is that most marketing plans are not worth the paper they are written on simply because they are often cobbled together in a rush, using inaccurate information, and exacerbated by a poor understanding or knowledge of the specific target markets etc etc. In other words, Rubbish in = rubbish out.

The final nail in the coffin of most marketing plans is where you find them - usually in the bottom draw under a pile of files gathering dust until it gets hauled out for review before the next financial year!

So what are the ingredients of the successful marketing plan? There are many, but lets settle on covering the basics.

The successful marketing plan will:

1) be concise and user friendly.

2) be written by somebody who understands the business, and where that business is going.

3) be realistic and practical in all respects.

4) have specific measurable outcomes matched to specific marketing actions.

5) be used as an integral part of the day to day running of the business.

If you ensure that your marketing plan meets these simple criteria then you will be better off than probably 90% of the businesses that you compete with.

And the benefits of taking the time to craft a successful marketing plan should be obvious to all - marketing activities that are not only focused on your target market and therefore more likely to maximise returns, but that are achieved within budget.

Now wouldn't that make a pleasant change!

You're Never Too Old to Learn Internet Marketing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Internet marketing is a marketing strategy of the new age, which is a great way to improve your business prospects. Unlike traditional advertisements, Internet marketing is a continuous process that ensures a constant publicity of your products or services. There are some free Internet marketing tools that can help you a lot in starting with this process. Once you start receiving positive feedback by employing these methodologies, you can move on to a more sophisticated and comprehensive package.

Free marketing tools can be divided into two broad topics, that is, the sources that will give you adequate knowledge about Internet marketing and the actual tools that will help you carry out the project.

Free E-books and Guides
There are many free e-books and guides to give you comprehensive theoretical knowledge about Internet marketing. Theoretical knowledge is essential because it acts as a foundation for the practical implications. If you are aware of the different strategies and aspects of Internet marketing and can also comprehend the reasons behind them, then you will be able to modify any strategy according to the need of your business. However, for more advanced knowledge, these free guides might not be adequate and you might want to upgrade to paid services.

Free Internet Marketing Tools
There are many free Internet marketing tools available in the market. The Google Keyword Tool and the Yahoo! Keyword Tool are free guides for finding the relevant keywords for your business. You can use the keywords that induce more search volumes and advertisement, as this will give you a better search engine ranking.

You can also use other free tools, such as Head Checker Tool, Keyword Density Analyzer Tool, or Overture tools that can help you select the appropriate keywords and let you analyze your website from the search engine spider's point of view. You can download these tools from various online resources. Many of them come for free only for a trial period, but some of them are absolutely free for any amount of time.

It is very difficult and time-consuming to manually perform technical functions, such as checking a large volume of header tags, meta tags, back links, keyword density, etc., manually searching the keywords or relevant SEO data. So if you are a serious Internet marketer, you will need to use the Internet marketing tools at some point of time.

Many of these provisions are completely free, and you can certainly use them to fulfill your initial requirements. But with the passage of time, they might become insufficient, especially if your business is on a continuous growth mode. In this case, you can hire professional services, which will deal with your online marketing strategies without bothering you about every detail.

So free tools are great start up apparatuses, but you might want to upgrade to paid services once your business starts producing positive results.

The PEN Story

This is the PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy :-) Some of the comments we have read here suggest that we should mention the creator of "A wolf loves pork", Mr Taijin Takeuchi. While we were looking for a way to realise a story describing "a journey through time" based on printed images, we were inspired by Mr Takeuchi's brilliant work. For this reason we intentionally quoted his work in our little movie while showing full respect to his original idea. We didnt mention his name because we did not want to do so without his prior agreement. However after considering some of the comments posted here we have decided to add credits to him and his work, which we obviously absolutely love.

Downturn Marketing Strategies

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The advantages far outweigh the drawbacks during a downturn when viewed from an online marketing perspective.

Every dollar spent on marketing whether online or offline give you much more during a recession if you apply your resources in the right way, like your ability to get the maximum from you publisher with your negotiating skills. If you take it positively, this is a god-sent opportunity for a marketer to get more return on your investment on marketing and advertising of your products.

Actually, businesses benefit more during a downturn provided you continue investing in marketing and advertising. This can be confirmed from various studies conducted by highly-acclaimed researchers. If you compare the statistics, you will notice that those businesses that promoted aggressively their products always gained 4% to 5% in market share when compared with their competitors who did not hike their spending on marketing/advertising during a downturn.

The key factors that you should take into account when marketing and advertising during a downturn are:

Customers: You know very well that in any business, customer is the king. It is highly recommended to provide all benefits to your customers like discounts and gifts and extra facilities like free downloads and free tools to help the customers to get more value from their online experience. This will ensure your customers will come back again and again to your business and thereby generate more sales.

Flexibility: For you to be flexible, you should be alert and oriented of your customers search behavior pattern. In other words, monitor your customers for what actually they are searching for, and then change your marketing/advertising strategies accordingly. Any rigid approach on your marketing strategy will backfire on you.

Cost-Affective Targeting: Please note that not everybody will succeed in cost-affective targeting. For any business to succeed, you should have certain key elements like well-known brand name, multiple products, targeted advertising, after-sales service, and support. These key elements are vital for any business to succeed. Any missing elements will have an adverse effect on your cost-affective targeting.

If you have studied recession or downturn long enough, you will find that this phenomenon does not last longer than 11 months or a year. Take recession positively, study it well, and apply your marketing and advertising strategies accordingly without compromising or downgrading your marketing and advertising costs. The key elements like well-known brand name, multiple products, targeted advertising, after-sales service, and support are to be incorporated into your business if you want to succeed.

Microprocessor Marketing Wars

[Recorded November 20, 2009] Ever since the launch of the 4004 microprocessor in 1971, AMD, IBM, Intel, MIPS, Motorola, National, Sun, Texas Instruments, Zilog and many other major corporations have fought epic marketing wars to establish their chips as the engines of choice for multiple generations of computers. There were battles over technical specifications, performance benchmarks, software architectures, RISC, 32 bits, and much more. Over the years, the fight shifted from one for hardware design engineers hearts and minds to a battle for those of the computer companies CEOs', and ultimately, for those of the consumers themselves. This combative environment drove the evolution of spec-based to brand-based microprocessor marketing. This panel discussion focuses on how the marketing of microprocessors changed as the semiconductor industry grew at unprecedented rates during the 1970s thru the 1990s. Learn about the events and the decisions that shaped the both the semiconductor and computing industries. Wonder at how annual chip marketing budgets ballooned from $100000 to over $1Billion in less than 20 years. The panelists and moderator for this session were all protagonists in these microprocessor marketing wars at three of the major players: AMD, Intel and Motorola. - Jack Browne: Hi End Microprocessor Marketing Manager, Motorola, 1981-1992 - Dave House: Intel SVP - General Mgr, Microprocessor business, 1978-81, 1982-91 - Claude Leglise: Intel 8086-8088-286-386-486 ...

Marketing Requires Creativity

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Marketing is the lifeblood of any business. Without an effective marketing campaign then sales of even the best product will be mediocre. Before you even plan your marketing steps it is necessary to step back and review to whom you will be selling. Without this knowledge then marketing is but an exercise in the dark.

Ideally you will be marketing to a small niche audience. Owners of small businesses often make the mistake of attempting to sell to a broad audience. Mass marketing campaigns require deep resources and extensive expertise. Small businesses are far more suited towards selling to a smaller market which could be narrowly defined.

A narrow audience allows delivery of a custom message. For example, let us assume you own a travel business. Attempting to engage in a broad postcard marketing campaign would not be feasible. However, if you focused on one niche like eco travel, then full color postcards provide plenty of room to amply discuss current eco travel opportunities.

Postcard printing is an effective and economical path to connecting with a niche market. Other opportunities exist online. Creativity within your online marketing is very important. There are myriad competing web sites for all subjects under the sun. To be noticed you must employ all the creativity within you.

Banner ads, cross promotional arrangements and participation within social networking forums are just the start. Businesses can employ all types of techniques ranging from contests to referral bonuses. Each business is unique as are its clientele. Programs need to be crafted to be most attractive to your given niche audience.

Trade shows are excellent forums for creative marketing. From the diversions at your booth to your promotional items you must give great scrutiny to design, colors and the underlying motif. Also important is durability. A promotional item like a notepad which is quickly used and thrown away represents waste of your marketing dollars.

Creativity is needed when selecting these items. Try to pick one that fits your given industry. For example, a pocket screwdriver is a great promotional item for those in the construction and electrical trades. Be creative, however you must stay within parameters of appropriateness for your market.

Creativity does not necessarily entail being loud or wild. It simply represents thinking out of the box. Find new ways of doing things. Postcard printing provides for a very cost effective way to experiment with varying marketing techniques. Special events, sales for frequent customers, referral award programs are all creative ideas which can spur sales.

Boring marketing translates to bored customers. Test your ideas on friends and family. Tap the most creative among your staff. Use the best avenues provided for both online and offline. A creative marketing campaign is your revenue line's best friend.

Measuring Marketing Results - 5 Key Steps

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We all want to make sure we get the best return on our marketing investment, whether it is advertising, email marketing, telemarketing or any other type of lead generation activity. There are very few business people who would seriously debate that point - and especially in these trying economic times, you want to make sure that every pound or dollar is well-spent.

The ability to measure marketing results is one of the key marketing skills that any business should be continually trying to improve. Why, then, do I often see companies marketing and not doing enough to properly measure the results? In business, as well as in life in general, there is a well-used management process that goes something like this:

1. Plan
2. Execute
3. Review
4. Return to step 1

Each time we move through this loop, we should be getting better at what we do. Carrying out each step thoroughly is important if this approach is to work for you.

Now, focusing on step 3 - Review, let's take a look at the 5 key steps to help you measure the results of your marketing efforts.

Step 1 - Know the size of your opportunity
You should spend time researching the approximate size of your market. Stands to reason, doesn't it? How else can you know whether, for example, 150 new business leads per year is a good performance or not? If your market is very specific, there might only be 300 companies you can sell to. In this case, 150 leads isn't bad. However, if your potential market is 3,000 companies, you need to look closely at how you are targeting your marketing.

Step 2 - Build in your measurement method
The 'review' step needs to be based on hard facts rather than opinion. This means building into each campaign a way of measuring success. This is especially true if you are running a range of campaigns through a selection of media (which you should be).

A letter-based campaign should include a tear-off or fax-back that carries a reference number. This will enable you to track how many inquiries come back from each campaign.

You can do the same for your email marketing campaigns by using landing pages on your web site to count responses. If you receive inbound sales inquiries, build in a question to find out where the prospect heard about you - and equally important, make sure this information is properly summarized and reported.

Step 3 - Measure through to the sale
It's a proven fact that sometimes a marketing campaign that yields a good number of inquiries results in very few appointments or sales. Measuring only inquiries will mislead you into doing more of the same campaign activity - whereas if you track each campaign through to sales, you would make a different decision.

Step 4 - Review your results regularly...
It's all very well measuring your marketing campaign results, but of course you must also take the time to review the results and decide what they are telling you. You should do this at least once per month.

Step 5 -... and have an open mind
One of the big benefits of measuring your results properly is that it takes away much of the 'opinion' about what is the right marketing. You may well have people in your company who 'swear by' a particular way of marketing. Quite simply, measurement will either support that opinion or it will not... and the evidence will be clear for all to see.

So, if you want to focus on the key marketing skills that your business needs in order to prosper, take a close look at how all this could apply to you.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Continue reading to discover the reason why article marketing is perfect for you.

Low-priced

If you're for a tight spending budget or perhaps you merely have desire to write, article marketing requires just only a couple of hours for you to write a piece of writing that may contact large numbers concerning your web business.

Effectively designed providers around

Article marketing has been around for quite a while, and several products and services have sprang up to provide marketing your website by way of article marketing easier. Furthermore, several computerized article distribution products and services distribute your article to a lot more internet sites and lookup directories than you're able to do on your, with reasonable prices to start.

There are several article directory sites which perhaps teach you how your article is accomplishing, that might consist of statistics for instance clicks or even the number of ezines your article has been allocated, just to name just a few. Excellent and easy for you to observe if your article marketing campaign is effective or not, and make the mandatory advancements when endorsing your online enterprise.

Specific areas where you can write

The Viral Marketing

Viral Marketing is simply having the term out about what you need to offer. Whenever one person informs somebody else who tells another person, who tells another individual, well you will have viral marketing.

In article marketing, viral marketing is effective. What happens is the fact that you distribute your article to several different directories and ezines. Other webmasters, probably have a use for your article, and place it on their website, which includes the viral effect you are looking for. The greater site owners that place your article on their website and the more lookup directories or ezines you publish on, the greater exposure for your web business.

Doing it the right way

Having signatures as well as author bios with link backs aimed at your web are very important, and when your current articles are well-distributed by way of viral marketing, you receive plenty of back links aimed at your website, increasing your site's PageRank and position in search engine result pages (SERPs).

Here are a few facts to consider when composing your own signature or authors bio box:

Include things like your name or Company Title - This really is definitely important to displaying authority and experience of your own field.

Include things like one particular offer - No more than one particular offer! Something such as a free e-book, a unique price, or any other type of offer that may attract your reader.

Incorporate ones link - The article is ineffective for marketing if you do not provide a backlink to your website. You want the web link to be live. What this signifies is usually that the website link will be able to easily have a very good click and they will go to your site. You do not need include them as copy as well as insert, this may get period, and most readers do not want to look at that further bit of period.

Provide them with a reason - To simply click! Ensure you are offering them with understanding, assistance, and knowledge in the field of the article. Make use of the proper keywords and ensure everything is well-written.

Bottom line

Fundamentally, article marketing is probably the best ways to advertise and get targeted traffic aimed at your website and online business. Just remember to keep it within causes. Overdoing your current submissions or even spamming web directories or articles will result in retrenchment of your respective articles or perhaps the web directories suspending you against utilizing their products and services.

Be sure your own content articles give you a genuine response to real troubles and good method for fixing those troubles. Remember, all round the web other online businesses making the effort to attain the very same target audience. Part 2 What Makes You Sexy - BBC Explorations

First Impressions are what count. Which physical features light the flames of passion when we see a stranger across a crowded room? And why do women's faces subtly change over the course of every month? What makes you sexy and attractive to the opposite sex? Everyday, attraction starts the same way for millions of people around the world with a glance. But which physical features light the flames of passion when we see a stranger across a crowded room? The signs of beauty turn out to be the same the world over and were biologically programmed to spot them. And its all because beauty is the bait we use to attract a mate. Surprisingly, the very first impression we make on other people often has nothing to do with our faces or our figures. Its the way we move. Good movers are sexy because they come across as fit, healthy and co-ordinated. And that means they're likely to have good genes. Just what you want in a partner with whom you might start a family. When it comes to beautiful faces we reveal that symmetry is the key. To prove this theory leading experts at the University of St Andrew's in Scotland analyse the faces of two models, Hannah and Jason. Incredibly, experiments at the University of Newcastle in England have found women's faces become more symmetrical and attractive to men when they're ovulating. Its a bombshell revealing that, like many animals, human females can become more desirable to males when they're ready to conceive. And a woman's monthly cycle has ...

An Effective Marketing Strategy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Effective marketing focuses on organizations energies and resources on a course of action which leads to profitability and dominance of a targeted market niche. It is therefore most effective when it is an integral element of overall firm policy, by defining how the organization will successfully engage customers, prospects and competitors in the market arena.

Marketing strategy determines the choice of target market segment, positions and allocation of resources. It combines product development, promotion, distribution, pricing and relationship management.

TACTICS AND ACTIONS OF MARKETING EFFECTIVELY

o This serves as the basis of a marketing arrangement which contains a set of specific actions required to effectively execute a marketing strategy.

o A strategy consists of well thought out series of procedures to make a marketing plan more effective. They serve as the elementary underpinning of marketing plans intended to fill market needs and arrive at marketing objectives.

o A marketing strategy often incorporates an organizations goals, policies and action sequences (tactics) into a cohesive whole. You can cascade an approach through an organization by creating strategy plans that then become strategy goals for the next level.

Real life marketing revolves around common sense, dealing with a limited number of factors in an environment of imperfect information and limited resources complicated by uncertainty and tight time scales, marketing managers use instincts and experience to analyze and handle the complex and unique situations being faced without easy reference from theory. A marketing strategy should therefore be centered on the key concept that customer satisfaction is the main goal.

Marketing Exam Success

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Imagine you are sitting in the marketing exam. The question paper is on the desk and you have been told to wait until you can start. That is the worst time. Trying to remember the quotes, names, models etc etc. Will the revision pay off? There are a few key steps to take right now to help you to gain the best marks.

I have marked hundreds of marketing exam papers. Students fail as they answer the question they had revised. They dump loads of data on the basis that they know it and that is good enough. Timing is a problem for many people and also the ability to understand the question.

Rules.

1 Read the question and look for the key words. Examine what you are expected to do. You will see terms such as examine, evaluate etc. That does not require you to describe only every marketing concept you know.

2 Plan your answer paper. Look for all of the questions you intend to answer. Plan them all so you don't overlap and repeat yourself

3 Break the answer plan into the 3 parts of the 'magic formula'

Concept- what is it? ie marketing segmentation is...

Apply- how does it work? Show you understand, use examples. Read the marketing press and take a few topics to make sure you can cover across a range of subjects.

Evaluate- how useful is this? What does market segmentation tell me. How does it help the businesses I have included? What challenges does it present? This stage is where you earn the higher marks. Here you might mention that customers are becoming more demanding and with different needs. So businesses need to be able to customise and yet be able to make profits.

4 Timing. We rarely write these days. So practise writing an answer. Make sure that you know exactly how much you can write in 30 minutes. Don't over run, be strict leave space and move on. You can return and remember quality not quantity

Hope this helps you to pass your marketing exam.

The legal profession is highly competitive, and in the 21st century, law firms need to market their services just as other business enterprises do. Many marketing ideas and strategies will work effectively for law firms. By adopting these strategies as part of a comprehensive marketing plan, a law firm will be able to increase its client base and revenues over both the short and long term.

In order to effectively market a law firm, it is essential that a comprehensive marketing strategy be developed.

Of course, this may seem like common sense on first blush--and it is to some degree--most law firms in business today lack a comprehensive marketing strategy. Law firms tend to take a piecemeal approach to promotion and marketing. They tend to make marketing decisions "on the fly" without any real consideration as to how one marketing effort will harmonize with other promotional efforts.

Because marketing and promotional budgets are not endless, a firm can get the most mileage out of those funds by expending them in a coordinated fashion. Moreover, a comprehensive marketing plan allows a firm the ability to have a blueprint for its promotional efforts that ensures all of the bases are covered.

Another strategy suitable to a law firm is niche marketing. In niche marketing, advertising pitches are directed toward that segment of the population that will be most interested in the product or service being offered.

Many law firms tend to specialize. Therefore, promotional and marketing ideas need to target particular niche markets. For example, if a firm specializes in corporate or business law, its marketing efforts need to be geared toward connecting with the owners and managers of corporations and businesses rather than appealing to the community at large.

Another marketing strategy that a law firm should employ is what can best be called the "personal touch." The attorneys in a firm should take a hands-on approach to marketing the services of the firm.

An example of how a law firm can pursue the personal touch in marketing and advertising is by having the attorneys in the firm make public presentations at civic meetings. Civic groups are eager to find speakers for their events. Lawyers are naturals in this regard.

Providing some pro bono services is also a solid way of establishing a respected professional presence in the community. Through pro bono work a firm is providing a solid service to people who otherwise cannot access legal representation and assistance.

Experiential Marketing

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Experiential Marketing, sometimes called "XM", is a trendy term used in the business press to describe a category of marketing activities that requires a direct encounter with a customer. This direct encounter is different from the majority of marketing activities which are mostly passive in nature.

For example, advertising is a very passive medium that bombards the customer with messages that need to be listened to or read. Print advertising requests the reader to stop and read the message; in most cases, we skim over the ad or just ignore it. In fact, most ads never get noticed. Luckily, modern day Homo Sapiens have developed an "internal TiVo" that automatically deletes most advertisements (this is a basic survival characteristic for the species).

Experiential marketing describes an encounter with a customer that makes them feel something. Walking through a department store recently, an attractive woman salesperson sprayed me with perfume as I walked by the cosmetics counter. It was an aggressive act, but it was a powerful encounter. I will never go to that store again.

You encounter XM almost everyday. At a fine restaurant, the waiter brings a sampling of desserts to your table which looks and smells great. This approach is far more stimulating to your senses than the traditional question, "Saved room for dessert?"

Another common example is a Sunday morning newspaper advertisement for a new brand of shampoo that includes a sample for you to use. The personal contact with the brand is very powerful, albeit an expensive advertising technique. This is how I get most of my toiletries.

During the holidays, you are approached by the Salvation Army bell-ringers who look you in the eye while ringing that clanging bell. Somehow the whole experience reminds you of Christmas or Hanukkah past. It tugs at your heart, so you toss a quarter in the bucket (yes, I am kind of cheap).

A trendy XM tactic is the use of street teams that perform skits on street corners in urban areas; they sing and dance and cavort while delivering a message about an event or offering. You feel compelled to stop and watch these idiots prance around. Secretly, you guess that the performers all must have graduate degrees in dance or philosophy. You give a big sigh of relief that you changed your major to business from Theater Arts, or less this would be you dancing for minimum wage.

Thus, experiential marketing elicits a feeling.

Using Affiliate Directories in an Affiliate Marketing Program

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You could say that all the many excellent directories on the internet make it a lot easier to find websites that tie into subjects that you are interested in learning about. Of course, there is also further value to these directories than just leisure reading. They will look towards these directories as an excellent means of promoting an internet marketing venture. Or, perhaps, they could use such a directory to learn more about a particular program that might have an interest in. Those that wish to explore opportunities in affiliate marketing, affiliate directories may prove to be an excellent resource for a great deal of excellent information.

So, what exactly is an affiliate directory? It would be an online resource where links are placed that direct the person browsing the directory to the host website of the affiliate program. Actually, it would not be completely accurate to say that the links exclusively direct those browsing to an affiliate program's website. Sites that review such websites or blogs covering the subject of affiliate marketing could also be included in such directories. In many ways, an affiliate directory can be considered a complete, total, and comprehensive resource covering all facets of affiliate marketing.

How can you use an affiliate directory to succeed with affiliate marketing? Honestly, the answer to this question could be one that goes on for quite some time. There are multitudes of ways in which you can use an affiliate marketing program to boost your success potential. One way would involve simply using the directory as a resource to look for the top affiliate programs that are available. You could visit as many websites as you wish. After which, you could make a selection as to which affiliate marketing program to work with depending upon where you land.

If you have already selecting an affiliate marketing program to work with and have your own supporting website, you could submit links to your site into the affiliate directory. This would lead to a potentially significant amount of direct traffic to the site as those frequenting the directory might discover your link.

Also, in addition to the direct traffic from the affiliate directory, you would experience increased organic search engine traffic as well. Why is this? Mainly, the robots of the search engine would eventually index the links found within the directory. This will have the obvious impact of increasing search engine rankings. All links count and those placed in affiliate marketing directories will definitely help deliver positive SEO results.

Increasing the odds of success will frequently hinge on how many affiliate directories you submit links to. Placing links in one affiliate directory is certainly not going to yield the same impact as placing links in dozens of directories. As the old saying goes, it is a numbers game and the more directories you submit to, the greater the odds of success. Don't pay much attention to naysayers that put down the smaller or newer affiliate directories. They do have value.
